*Embracing Neurodiversity in Psychotherapy Practice*
Event Description:
This comprehensive one-day workshop will provide counsellors and therapists with essential knowledge and skills to work effectively with neurodivergent clients. It will cover the fundamental concepts of neurodiversity, practical therapeutic strategies, and techniques to support neurodivergent individuals in therapy.
The day will cover:
- Understanding neurodiversity
- Types of neurodiversity
- The neurodiverse brain
- Recognising neurodiverse traits in therapy
- Working pre- and post-diagnosis
- Therapeutic contracting and observations
- Working with beliefs and emotional intelligence
- Managing sensory and emotional overload
- Managing procrastination and everyday challenges
- Managing masking in neurodivergent clients
At the end of this workshop therapists can expect to better understand how to recognise and support neurodivergent clients effectively, adapt therapeutic approaches to accommodate neurodiverse needs, and develop strategies to help manage sensory, emotional, and executive functioning challenges. This workshop will help therapists to create a neurodivergent-affirming therapy space.
This training is suitable for qualified therapists or counsellors-in-training, of any modality.
Trainer:
Nea Clark is an experienced TA psychotherapist, author, supervisor, NLP practitioner, and ADHD coach. She works with trainees at several training institutes, and regularly offers training events and webinars. She is the author of two books including Travel into the ADHD Mind: Strategies for Working with ADHD Clients (Sept 2024) and ADHD Coaching: Inside the Process: Strategy Meets Practice (May 2025).

Online Workshop: This workshop will be delivered via Zoom. Bookings close 48 hours before the start of the workshop , and joining details will be sent to all delegates after bookings close (the Thursday before the workshop between 2pm and 6pm). Please note that by booking a ticket for this workshop, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions for Zoom events, so please read through them carefully before making your purchase.
Catch-up: This workshop will be recorded. A link to the recording will be emailed out to all delegates on the Thursday AFTER the event. This recording will then be available to view in your own time for 28 days. Full details are included in emails sent to delegates. After this time the recording will no longer be available, so if you are planning to use the catch-up function, please ensure that you have adequate time to view the recording within this time frame.
