Miriam Taylor

Miriam Taylor is a UKCP registered Gestalt psychotherapist, supervisor, author and trainer who, before her retirement from clinical practice, specialised in working with trauma.

During her years as a clinician, starting in 1995, Miriam worked as Clinical Lead in a young peoples’ counselling service and as a Consultant Therapist in an independent trauma service. She is trained in several specialist trauma approaches including Sensorimotor therapy and EMDR. Her main interest is in integrating embodied and relational developments in trauma.

Since her retirement from clinical practice Miriam now focuses on aspects of collective trauma, social justice issues and climate change. Based in embodied practice, her interest is in the formation of the traumatised relational field, leading to an ecological perspective. She teaches in the UK and internationally and is on the Leadership Team of Relational Change. Miriam has over 30 years’ experience of teaching adults, and presents workshops and talks both in the UK and abroad.

She is author of several peer reviewed and invited papers and of  Trauma Therapy and Clinical Practice: Neuroscience, Gestalt and the Body (2014), and of Deepening Trauma Practice: A Gestalt Approach to Ecology and Ethics (2021).

Testimonials for Miriam Taylor’s training

Excellent. Very informative.  I expected the best and the day has been more than this. Miriam is so knowledgeable and shares this in a very accessible way

It’s rare to find trauma training of this calibre within the profession.

Full, informative, guiding and clarifying with some good ideas for supporting traumatised clients that I can use in my practice. I felt the trainer’s ability to focus on all the parts of the dissociating client were extremely grounding and demonstrated safety in practice.

Very useful and well delivered. It met my expectations, I really enjoyed it. Miriam Taylor  was very experienced, calm, and knowledgeable.

Miriam communicated clearly with obvious depth of experience and helpful examples and role play. A good solid training day.

Thought provoking, expressive, interesting.
