Dr Thaddeus Birchard

Dr Thaddeus Birchard (DPsych in Psychotherapy, MSc Psychosexual Therapy) was a psychosexual psychotherapist, author, trainer and international speaker.

Dr Birchard founded the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ASTAC), and was the founder and Clinical Director of the Marylebone Centre for Psychological Therapies. He developed the first UK-based programme to assist people experiencing sex addiction.

The rest of Dr Thaddeus Birchard’s profile has been removed following intervention by the UKCP.

In 2019 Brighton Therapy Partnership hosted a workshop by Dr Birchard, for which he provided a professional profile which we used on this page of our website.

The UKCP have taken issue with some of the content of Dr Birchard’s profile and are holding BTP’s owner personally responsible. Legal action has been threatened, as well as action against the owner’s private registration with their accrediting body as a therapist. We have chosen to remove most of Dr Birchard’s profile as a result.

With sadness we have learnt that Thaddeus died on the 21st June 2022, at the age of 76.

I really enjoyed Thaddeus – appreciated his use of self as an example to refer to throughout the day.

[Thaddeus] was excellent, very approachable and made it easy to understand.
