Katherine Caffrey
Katherine Caffrey is an experienced accredited counsellor with the BACP, and a clinical supervisor. She has a special interest in counselling children and young people, neurodivergence and working therapeutically with suicide risk. Since 2020 she has worked with the BACP presenting three Professional Development days annually on working ethically with suicidal risk.
She has worked in a range of settings including Liverpool University counselling service, and a High school in Cheshire where she set up a successful counselling service. During the CoVid lockdowns she began remote work with the Charlie Waller charity working as part of the Further Education and Colleges team providing training and mental health support to staff and students.
Katherine runs a busy private practice offering supervision and supporting clients with a range of presentations, including suicidal ideation and self-harm.
She has wide ranging experience providing training, both face-to-face and online, especially around working with suicidal risk, and in providing specialised training for counsellors who want to work with children.
She has co-authored a book in the Routledge Relational Ethics series “Developing Relational Ethical Practice for Counselling in Education: Contextual, Collaborative and Reflexive” which is due for publication in Autumn 2026. Away from counselling she has written several short stories and plays and is planning to record a version of the WWI Story “Duty’s Call” for a podcast.
